Simple marketing that drives more customers.

The Simple Marketing Strategy That's Driven More Footfall Over the Last Eight Weeks

June 28, 20262 min read

Alongside Impact, I still spend my days running Turnbull's Food Hall. Over the last eight weeks, we've seen some of the strongest sales we've had for a long time.

The shop has been busy. Really busy.

Yes, the weather has helped. Sunshine always gets people thinking about BBQs, burgers and steaks.

But sunshine alone doesn't fill a shop. Consistent marketing does.

Earlier this year we noticed footfall had softened a little. We could have hoped things would improve, or we could have done something about it.

We chose to act.

Not with a huge advertising budget.

Not with a complicated marketing plan.

We simply decided to give customers more reasons to visit us every single week.

That's all good marketing really is: giving people a reason to walk through your door.

Week after week we've showcased new products, seasonal favourites and fresh ideas. We've reminded customers what makes us different and why it's worth making the trip.

The team have worked incredibly hard to execute it.

And it's worked.

Simple marketing, done consistently, has driven some of our strongest trading in a long time.

Whenever I speak to members of Impact or other independent retailers, I hear the same thing.

"I'd love to do more marketing... I just don't have the time."

I completely understand.

Running a food business is relentless. There are customers to serve, staff to look after, deliveries arriving, problems to solve and about a hundred other things demanding your attention.

But marketing doesn't need endless hours. It needs focused time.

A dedicated focus session each week is often enough to plan your marketing, create your content and give customers plenty of reasons to visit.

The time you invest today creates the footfall you'll enjoy tomorrow.

That's exactly why I'm running my next live training.

On Tuesday 14th July at 7pm, I'll show you how to create more time to work on your business, so you can consistently focus on the activities that actually move the needle.

If you've ever caught yourself saying, "I just don't have time," this session is for you.

Remember, people rarely wake up wondering if they should visit your shop. It's our job to give them a reason.

What's yours going to be this week?

Have a great week.

Mark
