Could You be the Next World Champion?

January 07, 20242 min read

This week the country went Darts crazy, as Luke Littler made the World Darts Championship final at the tender age of just Sixteen.

It’s an incredible story.

A story that gripped the nation and created a whole new generation of darts fans.

Perhaps you were one of them?

As an independent retailer and business owner, there’s a lot we can take from this incredible story.

The first lesson is that stories create interest.

When it comes to growing your business, you need to be telling stories.

Stories that are interesting.

Stories that capture the imagination.

Stories that create intrigue and make you relevant.

That’s what the story of Luke Littler did for the sport of darts.

The second lesson is that winning awards pays.

Sadly, Luke Littler fell at the final hurdle, he was runner up.

But as runner up, he still managed to bank £200k.

And, with the correct management of his achievement, Luke will go on to earn a whole lot more in the coming weeks and months.

And it’s the same for you in business.

By entering awards competitions, you can grow your business.

And just like Luke, you don’t have to be world champion to benefit from growth.

Your growth will come from the way you deliver the messages and stories of the awards you win.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with a ‘Champion’ of butchery this year.

Mark Duckworth of Dales Traditional Butchers won both the ‘Champion of Champions’ Sausage Competition and the ‘Golden Haggis’ Award.

Mark’s real success wasn’t in being the champion, but rather in the way he promoted his awards, after winning them.

Mark made a significant investment in promoting the awards and the results were stunning.

Mark’s business experienced massive growth.

Mark took the time and made the investment to promote his achievements.

That was his real success.

And it can be your success too, in 2024.

Have a great week.

Mark
