Three Stories, One Business Lesson

Every week something inspires me to write this post.

This week, three stories stood out.

What could Gary Neville, an election candidate, and Mark Cavendish teach us about achieving business success?

 

Gary Neville's Lesson

Last Sunday, as England struggled in their first qualifying game against Slovakia, Gary Neville thought Manager Southgate should make changes at halftime. "If you do the same things, you get the same results," said Gary.

In business, it's the same. Southgate didn’t change anything, and a Jude Bellingham wonder strike in injury time saved his bacon.

Don’t rely on a last-minute miracle in your business.

You have to be prepared to change what isn’t working if you want to get better results.

 

The Election Candidate's Approach

An election candidate caught me on my doorstep earlier this week.

Though I initially told them they wouldn’t get my vote, they seized the moment.

A great conversation ensued, and they resonated with me deeply.

Unbelievably, they metaphorically won a potential new customer.

They rolled up their sleeves, worked hard, and connected with their audience - a vital lesson for you as a business owner.

Are you capturing the attention of potential customers and truly connecting with them?

 

Mark Cavendish's Determination

This week, Mark Cavendish set a new record for the Tour de France, with the most stage wins.

At 39, after a crash, illness, injury, and depression, Cavendish’s determination led him through a rigorous training program to have an attempt at the record.

His triumph came just four days after he struggled in the heat of a punishing opening stage out of Florence, vomiting on the bike in concerning scenes - and two days after he missed the opportunity to contest stage three after being caught behind a late crash in Turin.

Yet, his focus and resilience led to his historic 35th stage win.

Just like Cavendish, business success requires focus, determination, and resilience.

 

Conclusion:

To win in business, be ready to make changes, work hard, connect with your audience, and stay focused with determination and resilience.

Winning isn’t easy.

Records aren’t easy.

Business success isn’t easy.

But it is achievable.
