BAM: Leadership When Things Go Wrong

It’s Christmas.

This week will be noisy.

And sometimes it’s more than noise.

Yesterday our main chiller compressor failed.

Then one of our hire chillers went down too.

No main chiller back until 24 December.

Too late, a major problem.

In these moments, panic can set in and make things worse.

At Christmas, when faced with challenges, you need to remain calm.

Panic and anger will only make things worse.

Over the coming days you could be about to face difficult customers.

Stock shortages.

Missing orders.

Team sickness problems.

When problems occur, I’m mindful of something shared with me by my friend and mentor, Bob Negen from WhizBang:

BAM.

Breathe – stay calm. Clear heads fix problems.

Acknowledge – this is part of being an entrepreneur. Stuff breaks.

Move on – focus on the solution, not the flap. And then move on.

This week isn’t about perfection.

It’s about leadership.

Shit happens.

As entrepreneurs, we sort shit out.

You’ve got this.
