Crystal Clear Clarity

Why Hard Work Isn’t the Problem in Small Business - Clarity Is

February 01, 20261 min read

Most business owners don’t have an effort problem.

They have a clarity problem.

This week I made a decision.

To be clearer - about what I stand for, how I help, and the kind of thinking I believe independent businesses need more of.

I see too many owners working flat out without a clear picture of what they’re actually trying to build.

“More sales.”

“Better margins.”

“Less stress.”

All valid.

But not clear.

Late last year, a butcher I work with applied a simple idea we’d discussed.

Nothing dramatic changed - but his thinking did.

For the first time in a long while, he could clearly see the shape of the year ahead: what to focus on, what to stop, and where his energy should go.

That clarity didn’t come from doing more.

It came from stepping back and thinking better.

That’s the decision I’ve made.

To prioritise clarity - in my work and in the businesses I support.

Because better thinking leads to better decisions.

Something to think about.

Have a great week.

Mark
