Know Your Numbers: The Difference Between Winning and Guessing!

September 28, 20251 min read

This weekend, I've been glued to the Ryder Cup.

The tension, the crowd, the tiny margins between winning and losing.

But here’s the thing, golf at that level isn’t just about who hits the prettiest shot.

It’s all about the scorecard.

Every hole, every stroke, tracked and measured.

Without that, you’ve no idea if you’re winning or heading home early.

And it’s the same in your shop.

At Turnbull’s this week, we’ve been drilling into our numbers.

And I’ll be honest; we found some clues that mean we’ll be adjusting our strategy for the next 12 months.

That’s exciting.

Because your numbers don’t lie.

They tell you exactly where you’re strong, and where you’re leaking profit.

Here’s the lesson: you can’t run a professional business if you don’t know your numbers.

We’re no longer in the era of “just wing it and hope.”

This is the era of the professional butcher, the professional retailer.

And a professional always knows the score.

On Monday, I’ll be sharing what I discovered with Impact Retail Success Club members in our Monday Morning Motivation video.

Interesting insights around margins and tracking your payroll.

The numbers that will be the difference between great and distinctively average.

Always remember, we’re living in the era of the professional businessperson.

You must know your numbers.

Have a great week.

Mark
