How Awards Can Position Your Business for Growth

This week, I was lucky enough to pick up an award at the British Butchery Awards in Nottingham - and so was one of our brilliant Impact Retail Success Club members, W. Alderson & Son Butchers of Cockerton, Darlington 🏆

Naturally, the credit goes to the teams behind the businesses.

But there’s a bigger reason I want to talk about awards - and it’s not the trophy.

Yes, entering awards takes time.

And sure, it would be easier not to bother.

But if you want to build a successful business and a strong brand, awards and evaluations are an essential tool in your marketing toolkit.

They position you as an expert in your field.

They attract new customers.

They help define your business as one worth watching.

But here’s the thing:

Winning is great - but it’s what you do after, that really counts.

That’s where the magic happens.

You have to amplify your success: online, in-store, in your community.

And you have to do it in a way that fits your brand and voice.

Be congruent.

So, here’s a simple formula I’d encourage every business owner to adopt:

Identify → Execute → Amplify

Identify the awards and evaluations that can grow your business.

Execute strong entries - learn what judges are looking for and keep improving.

Amplify your wins - don’t be shy, spread the word with pride and real purpose

Use this formula throughout your career.

Rhythmically.

Your brand positioning will soar.

Remember, awards aren’t just about recognition.

They’re about reputation.
