I was out and about this week and saw it again…
“Free items”
“Money off”
“Half price meat”
This is not the supermarkets – this is independent retailers.
And I’ll be honest, it baffled me.
This is one of the busiest food retail weeks of the year. People are already planning to spend. They want to buy.
So why give your margin away?
It got me thinking… a lot of retailers are jumping into marketing without asking a really basic question:
What’s your objective?
If it’s footfall - fine, say that.
If it’s clearing stock - fine, plan it properly.
If it’s getting old customers back through the door - great, target them.
But “stick an offer on Facebook and hope for the best” isn’t a strategy.
It’s just noise.
The retailers who get the best results are the ones who are clear on what they’re trying to achieve before they post anything.
That’s what makes marketing work.
Not more posts. Not bigger discounts.
Just better thinking.
That’s exactly what I’m going to be covering on Tuesday at 7pm:
How to Build a Consistent Flow of Customers into Your Shop
Because once you understand how to bring people in consistently, you stop relying on last-minute offers and guesswork.
There’s still time to join us – Click here to book your place.
If you’ve ever posted something and thought “I hope this works”… this session will help fix that.
Remember, hope is not a strategy.
Happy Easter and have a great week.
